If you have a solid background in science and/or technology, we welcome your application and look forward to the opportunity to review your qualifications. For consideration into the Master of Management of Innovation Program, please complete a formal application through the School of Graduate Studies, (SGS), online application process at: https://apply.sgs.utoronto.ca/ You must complete the online application to be considered for entrance into MMI.
Please Note:
The graduate unit for MMI is the Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME). When applying you will find the MMI program listed under IHPME, not the Department of Management on the electronic SGS application form.

The Master of Management of Innovation Program accepts applications every year beginning November 15th and closing February 15th.

Please be prepared to provide the following:
- The School of Graduate Studies charges an application fee at time of application. Your application will not be forwarded to us until paid and all documents have been submitted.
- The School of Graduate Studies must receive payment for your application by February 15th and all application materials by February 28th, before the MMI Academic Review will review your submission and invite selected applicants for panel interviews.
- If accepted you will be required to pay a $1500 nonrefundable deposit to secure your place in the Program.
- A one page single spaced application letter outlining why you are interested in the Program and why you think the MMI is a good fit with your future career goals.
- Resume/CV.
- Two academic letters of reference. There is no set form for the letters of reference.
- Applicants must have at least a "B+" , U of T equivalent average in order to be considered for the MMI Program.

Faryal holds a clinical research assistant position at The Hospital for Sick Children where she assists in a drug trial in the division of rheumatology. She also works as an invigilator and volunteers as a support worker for AccessAbility Resource Center at the University of Toronto. Her high enthusiasm and devotion to serve the community lead her to volunteer as a sports partner with community on campus, provide friendly visits to residents at Specialty Care senior home and coach for the baseball league of Community living Mississauga. Further, Faryal is an active member of the Canadian Cancer Society, the Muslim Student Association and Pakistan Youth Alliance. As an independent, positive and passionate leader, Faryal aims to integrate her knowledge of life sciences with skills for managing the innovation process gained from the MMI program, to pursue a career in the health care sector.

In addition to her pursuit for academic excellence, Sheena developed her management skills by being an active leader within numerous organizations. She was the Special Projects Director of the Golden Key International Honour Society at McMaster, an executive member of the Community Volunteer action group and sat on the McMaster United Way Campaign Committee. She has worked as an administrative assistant at a medical practice for six years as well as completed a marketing internship at IHG head office in Atlanta.
A multi-talented individual, Sheena aims to merge her strong background in health care with her skill set in business to become an innovative leader within the industry.

Antonino Spatafora
Antonino has developed leadership and teamwork skills through his participation in different extracurricular activities and volunteer experience. Antonino has been part of many sports teams, including soccer and hockey, and was the coach of the 1995 boys Kleinburg Nobelton Soccer Team. Along with his engineering background, Antonino hopes to gain the ability and strategic perspectives for managing the innovation process from the MMI program, which will greatly affect his future career goals within the technology sector.

Anuar Turgulov
Anuar's interest in academic research lead to his current role as a Research Coordinator at Rescu, a resuscitation research program at the Keenan Research Centre, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, St Michael's Hospital, University of Toronto. Rescu, the biggest resuscitation science program in Canada, focuses its research on deriving and evaluating processes of care and timely interventions that improve outcomes for patients who suffer life threatening trauma and cardiac emergencies in the pre-hospital environment. In addition to coordinating various interventional and observational trials, Anuar was able to publish articles on EMS management and the use of advanced airway management in cardiac arrest resuscitation. In an effort to explore the private sector of the health care industry, Anuar worked part time as a paramedic/research assistant at BioPharma, a clinical research organization.
Anuar's strong interest in learning about the healthcare industry as it applies to economic analysis, management, marketing, finance and business strategy lead him to the MMI program. Upon graduation, Anuar plans to pursue a career in the private sector of the healthcare industry.

Bryan Xu

Bryan has always been indulged in technology and innovation, particularly software. Since graduation, he has been working as a software consultant. He not only enjoys the technological challenges but also was luxuriate in solving business related problems to help clients achieve exceptional results. While working in the field he has developed strong leadership and communication skills. He has grown into a systematic and organized professional that adds value to any organization he is with. He is also a self-motivated entrepreneur who has started two venture businesses in the past couple years. In doing business, the value of effort, commitment, and consistency has become an integral part of his core values.
Upon completion of his studies in the Master of Management of Innovation program, he aspires to continue his entrepreneurial endeavors. He believes that the knowledge acquired at MMI, combined with his experience, will help him make wiser, more responsible business decisions and better maximize the value of different opportunities that may arise.

Xiaoou (Cheryl) Liu

Coming from a program renowned for its use of a small group, problem-based, self-directed learning approach, Cheryl is highly accustomed to interdependent and independent collaborative learning. Moreover, her leadership roles on various committees, including the Inter-Residence Council, Bachelor of Health Sciences Student Council, and McMaster's Welcome Week team has allowed her to hone her leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. In her final year, she has also served as a Peer Tutor for first year students in her program.
Cheryl's exposure and interest in public health was sparked by her volunteering trip in the summer of her second year to Nicaragua and Grenada as part of a team of McMaster volunteers with the Global Medical Training International Humanitarian Organization. This experience, along with her involvement as a Hospital Elder Life Program volunteer at the McMaster Hospital, and her knowledge in health research methodology, health policy, and global health has instilled a passion for public health promotion. Cheryl hopes to integrate her Health Sciences background with the management knowledge she gains in the MMI program to pursue a career as a leader in the public health sector.

Rana Abulnour

In addition to maintaining a rigorous course load and working as a teaching assistant, Rana has managed to develop her leadership and communication skills by participating in many extracurricular activities. She has held a variety of executive positions with different McGill student associations, such as VP Sponsorship, VP Events and Marketing and VP Public Relations. In addition, multiple professors have selected her as their Student Ambassador to serve as a liaison between them and the student body. Rana has also served as a vice chair and a delegate at many Model United Nations and World Health Organization conferences.
Furthermore, Rana has a strong sense of community. She devotes much of her free time to volunteer work, specifically within the health care industry. She has been volunteering at the Royal Victoria Hospital for the past three years. Moreover, she traveled on a humanitarian trip to Panama, worked with the Egyptian Red Crescent and shadowed many doctors in multiple medical fields. As a result, she has gained a deeper understanding of the health care systems in different countries.
As a highly motivated individual, with a strong aptitude for problem solving, leadership and teamwork, Rana aspires to combine her love of science with her studies in the MMI program to pursue a career in management within the pharmaceutical or health care industry. She aspires to improve the health care system by implementing innovative solutions. Emerson values the intellectual aspects of consulting, the exposure to several industries, and the excitement of client interactions. He plans to combine his analytical and research skills from his work experience in health care with his problem solving skills developed through MMI to become a leader in management consulting. Currently, Emerson holds a position in the Executive Committee of the Graduate Management Consulting Association.
Emerson is also a student athlete and was a paddler for the "New College New Dragons" Dragon Boat team that achieved great success as the Under-23 National Championship team. In his spare time, Emerson is an avid fan of basketball and also a loyal fan of the Toronto Raptors.

Stanley Ngo

Stanley also obtained extensive research experience working for a year as a Research Student in the laboratory of Dr. Jane Batt at St. Michael's Hospital where he helped investigate some of the roles that ubiquitin ligases play in inducing skeletal muscle atrophy.
Stanley's passion for science and business caused him to join the MMI program, where he hopes to continue to develop the management and leadership skills necessary to make a positive contribution to the healthcare and biotechnology sectors.

Her interest in innovation and management led her to a business intelligence software company as a Marketing Coordinator and she continued to pursue her interest in business as a Technical Recruiter for a national information technology search firm that serviced many clients in Government and Non-profit, Computer Software and Services, Consulting, Telecommunication and Financial industries. Here, she strengthened her negotiation, consulting, and people management skills.
Jennifer has a strong commitment to her community and has spent much of her time volunteering. She volunteered at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute for over 2 years, training and mentoring new volunteers as a Team Leader. During her time in the neuro unit, she assisted in speech assessments as a Speech-Language Pathology volunteer. In addition, she supported the implementation of a physical rehabilitation pilot program for outpatients with neurological injury at the North Toronto Memorial Community Recreation Centre. This past summer, she participated in the Strike-Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank as well as the Toronto Heatwave Volleyball Tournament in support of the Sick Kids Foundation, in which her team placed second.
Jennifer is professional and mature, and highly values innovation and change. Her interests lie in a variety of areas which include marketing, organizational change, business development and training. Sharon recently graduated with distinction from the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences program, specializing in Health Sciences and Biology at the University of Western Ontario. Her consistently strong academic efforts led to her placement on the Dean's Honor List during each year of her undergraduate studies. In addition to her academic achievements, she also held a variety of executive positions with a number of student associations at Western, including Vice President of the Biology Undergraduate Society, Promotional Executive of the Chinese Debate and Public speaking Association, as well as, Financial Executive of the Hong Kong Connexion Club. Sharon gained valuable experience and developed effective communication skills volunteering as a physiotherapist assistant at BodyMed and worked efficiently in a team setting as a telemarketing sales representative at Duplium Corporation. Through her undergraduate studies, Sharon developed a strong understanding of the Canadian health care system and health policy.
She is passionate about the health industry and plans to pursue a career in health management, particularly hospital privacy management, upon the completion of her studies in the MMI program. Daniel Pearlstein
University of Western Ontario
Daniel is a graduate of the Honours Chemistry program at the University of Western Ontario. While completing his Honours Specialization in Chemistry, he was immersed in many rigorous lab courses in organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry. Daniel completed a fourth year thesis on protein chemistry investigating the structure of proteins using hydroxyl radical labeling and mass spectrometry. He possesses a keen interest in preventative medicine and innovative disease research. He gained extensive research experience working for the Medicinal Chemistry department of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research and the Department of Molecular Structure and Function at the Hospital for Sick Children. Following his undergraduate studies, Daniel volunteered for a general practitioner as a medical clinic assistant
Daniel's interest in the Master of Management of Innovation program stems from his desire to merge science and business. He is an outgoing, hardworking, and self motivated individual who enjoys playing many sports including: hockey, baseball, and snowboarding. Daniel also enjoys camping and hiking. A friendly, capable, and open minded person, he is always eager to try something new. His work experience has motivated him to pursue a career in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector upon completion of his MMI degree.

Shary Zhang
University of Toronto
Shary recentlsy graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biochemistry and Economics. While completing her degree, she had the opportunity to participate in research projects involving geography of information and stock returns. She developed strong leadership skills while serving as the co-founder of the Asian Diaspora Group, as well as, a co-organizer for the Asian Diaspora Conference 2010. Additionally, she gained exceptional interpersonal skills through employment with H & M as a retail sales associate. Her experience as a Clinical Research Assistant at Princess Margaret Hospital investigating several Chemotherapy drugs in their phase 3 and 4 studies helped to fine tune her ability to work effectively in team based environments. Shary has also been an active volunteer at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Grace Hospital providing assistance to staff and in-unit patients on a weekly bases.
Shary is fluent in English and Mandarin. Upon graduation from the MMI program she plans to pursue a career within the health care sector. She is available for a Group Project assignment beginning May 2011.

Jenelle Kasper

Jenelle recently graduated from Queen's University with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. An active member of both the Queen's and Kingston communities she has successfully balanced academics, athletics and volunteering. Jenelle began swimming competitively as a child and continued through her university years as a member of the Queen's swim team. She was elected as team captain by her peers in her final year at Queen's, giving her the opportunity to provide leadership and support to her team mates. Jenelle continues to share her love for the sport as a coach of a local swim team. Additionally, Jenelle has been an active member of the Hospital Elder Life Program in Kingston.
Jenelle's leadership skills and science background coupled with her studies in the MMI program, will provide an excellent foundation upon which she plans to launch a career in either the biotechnology or health care sectors. With her enthusiasm, determination, and commitment to continuous learning, Jenelle looks forward to contributing to a dynamic and continuously evolving work environment upon graduation from the MMI.

Leanne Shapton
Queen's University
Leanne recently graduated from Queen's University with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Life Sciences. As an undergraduate, Leanne acquired an understanding of biomedical sciences and honed her research skills. Her undergraduate thesis analyzed the impact of acute sodium loading on phosphate disposition in a Chronic Kidney Disease model and its relationship to cardiovascular disease. During her undergraduate studies, Leanne always maintained a busy schedule balancing a part-time job as a lifeguard at the Queen's Swimming Pool, volunteering as a Peer Learning Assistant in the library, and competing with the Queen's Triathlon Team. She fine tuned effective communication and interpersonal skills as a clinical research assistant at the London Health Sciences Centre and neighbouring School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, investigating the effectiveness of medical devices used by patients.
Her dedication as a team player and skill as a creative problem solver was demonstrated through her summer position at a non-profit charitable organization helping people design legal agreements for managing financial and personal affairs. Leanne is passionate about non-profit industry within the health care sector. Upon graduating from the MMI program she hopes to play a role in improving the quality and safety of health care services through the use of sound and innovative business practices.

Vascular surgery is a highly innovative field combining traditional open surgery techniques with newer endovascular techniques. The evolution of the profession is occurring at such a pace that there is a need for professionals with an understanding of both clinical practice and management. Emad graduated with high distinction in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. He has the self-discipline and work ethic to competently manage rigorous curriculums. As a student-athlete he successfully balanced athletics and academics. Emad is a Dean's List scholar, three time All Canadian Student-Athlete and a bronze medalist at Canada-West Championships. As the captain of University of Calgary track & field varsity team, Emad played a leading role in guiding teammates and empowering them to become successful student-athletes.
Outside of his studies, Emad dedicates much of his time to the community. Emad is passionate about global health and envisions himself working to improve global health, regardless of the cultural or territorial boundaries that divide people. He has demonstrated his commitment to public service as a volunteer for the Brenda Strafford Centre (BSC), Canadian Red Cross and Canadian Blood Services to name a few.

Edona is a Law Student at the University of Ottawa and a 2009 MMI Alumni. For the MMI Capstone project, Edona interned with the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Health System Strategy Division of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Upon graduation, Edona worked as a Consultant in the Health Care Practice of PSTG Consulting, a leading management consulting firm in Toronto. As a law student, Edona focused on developing her litigation and advocacy skills while interning with the Centre of Addiction and Mental Health Counsel at the Ontario Review Board. Further, as a Summer Law Student with the Legal Department at Eli Lilly Canada, Edona has enjoyed the opportunity of gaining exposure to different areas of the Law by working with the in-house counsels of this multinational pharmaceutical company. While in Law School, Edona continues to stay involved in different extracurricular and community initiatives on and off campus. A community engagement close to her heart is serving on the Board of the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation, which provides educational support to Boards of Education to assist youth in being the best they can be and provide scholarships for graduating high school students.

Dustin exhibits strong leadership skills that he effectively applies in team-based problem solving challenges. While completing his BSc (Honors) Microbiology, Dustin engaged in valuable leadership experiences such as Vice President of the University of Guelph College of Biological Science Student Council and President of the University of Guelph Microbiology club.
International volunteer experience has fueled a desire to learn as much inside and outside the classroom as possible. In just three short years Dustin has occupied his time outside of school volunteering in Ghana, India, Botswana and New Orleans; all while maintaining his hard work ethic.

A 2008 graduate of the Human Biology: Genes, Genetics and Biotechnology program University of Toronto. He graduated with high distinction and was named a Dean's List Scholar which placed him within the top ten percent of his class.
His interest in science research led him to pursue a scholarship opportunity with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This scholarship allowed him to do research in genetics for three months at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Coming from an engineering background, Varsha is interested in the role and impact of computers especially software in the health care sector. In the future, she would like to manage and deliver innovative solutions using information and communication technologies (ICTs) particularly related to medical devices and medical software applications. She believes that these technologies play a key role in improving healthcare worldwide. Varsha is also passionate about solving problems related to living and health conditions particularly in developing countries. Through the MMI program, she hopes to gain knowledge and skills required in management and business strategies to achieve her goals.

Mathieu Dubuc
Queen's University
Mathieu has a great interest in the development and use of bio-fuels as a sustainable resource and has devoted much of his time towards research in the area. Besides his thesis, Mathieu had a hand in publishing two papers in scientific journal. He also attended and presented at a conference for the international association for plant biotechnologists.
Mathieu is excited to expand his leadership and management skills in the MMI program so that he will be further able to assist in the development and use of bio-fuels in the future.

Adam Erwood
University of Toronto
Adam was introduced to the field of telemedicine during his participation in the Research Opportunity Program as part of his undergraduate work. He has since developed a keen interest in introducing new technologies into the health care sector.
In 2007 Adam began working at Markham Stouffville Hospital as a student and most recently held the title of Digital Communications Advisor, Public Relations. This position allowed Adam to gain knowledge of the health care system while developing strong communications skills. Adam has recently led the development of a number of innovative projects such as the introduction of tablet computers into the Emergency Department to assist with patient discharge as well as a redesign and reorganization of the external website.
Outside of his professional career, Adam volunteers as a Big Buddy and Tutor with the York Region Children's Aid Society and is a strong advocate for supporting vulnerable children in the community. Business knowledge acquired during the MMI program will compliment Adam's background in science and communication and allow him to manage the deployment of new health care technologies in future endeavors. Melanie Hewitt
Queen's University
Melanie was placed on the Dean's Honour List during all four years of her university career. In addition to maintaining a competitive academic standing, her enthusiasm towards the healthcare community lead her to volunteer as a support worker in the Cancer Centre of Kingston General Hospital. She has also volunteered with the Queen's Alma Matter Society and Queen's Disability Services. Following her passion for travel and adventure, Melanie has also volunteered abroad, participating in an endangered habitat restoration project on Motuihe Island, New Zealand last summer. While balancing her academic and volunteer commitments, Melanie was also a member of the largest student run charity organization at Queen's, and an active member of a Queen's dance performance team. In addition, Melanie has established strong leadership capabilities from five years of supervisory work as an advanced swimming, lifesaving and leadership instructor and plans to further develop these skills during the MMI program. As a competitive gymnast, swimmer and all-around athlete, her main healthcare interests lie heavily in the nutrition and physical fitness realms.
As a driven and positive individual, Melanie's strong scientific and research background combined with her knowledge of business and management make her an ideal candidate for leadership in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Rutgers University
Throughout her undergraduate career she maintained a rigorous course load and developed an interest in the spread of infectious disease by attending master's classes detailing the molecular structure of infectious disease. Furthermore she continuously developed her leadership skills with executive positions with AMSA (American Medical Student Association) and her work with SPARC (Science Preparatory Alliance of Rutgers Camden) - a collaborative mentoring program between Rutgers University, Coriell Institute for Medical Research and public and private schools in Camden and Salem Counties.
Mishae's interest in interdisciplinary fields led her to the MMI program at the University of Toronto. She hopes to apply her scientific background, practical knowledge of research methodologies and the experience from the MMI program to establish herself as a leader in the health care field.

Vivien Ku
Queen's University
Vivien recognizes that communication across the healthcare industry is vital to its continued progress and collaboration between professionals. As a past chair of the Canadian Undergraduate Conference on Healthcare, she organized a three-day conference for over 300 undergraduate students across the country interested in the future of healthcare, research, industry, and policy.
She is an avid promoter of personal health, and has demonstrated her interest in providing health awareness to the community through organizing affordable yoga classes to over 700 members as president of Queen's Yoga Club, serving as a Peer Health Educator through Queen's Health, Counseling, and Disability Services, as a medical first responder with St. John Ambulance, and as a health clinic volunteer in Nicaragua.
Vivien hopes to bridge her passion for healthcare technologies and health promotion with the objectives of the MMI program, and looks forward to a career in healthcare management.

Monika Lechowicz
University of Toronto
In her final year, Monika volunteered at a comparative neuroscience laboratory studying the effects of acetylcholine on learning, where she gained valuable insight of the scientific field and its applications in society. Monika was also employed in the Marketing Department at GlaxoSmithKline, one of the leading pharmaceutical and health research companies in Canada. Her duties included organising promotional material for sales representatives, managing data and analyzing results from advertising testing for allergic rhinitis. From these experiences, she was able to improve valuable business skills such as team-work and communication as well as gain an increased awareness of the marketing field.
In her spare time, Monika has always been an active member of the community. With a passion for animals, she volunteered at the Etobicoke Humane Society and animal clinics. Monika also had the honour to represent Canada as a rhythmic gymnast on the Canadian National Team. Her rhythmic gymnastics team were bronze medallists at the Pan American Games in Rio De Jainero and placed 17th at the World Championships in Patras, Greece. Being an elite athlete, not only allowed Monika to develop skills such as team work and time management, but it also allowed her to travel the world and immerse herself fully in different cultures.

Katharine Lowndes
Queen's University
Through her engineering studies, she developed an excellent background in the technical and scientific aspects of biomedical advances and also learned the ways in which science and technology research blend with business. Kate's engineering degree gave her excellent team work skills through working under strict deadlines on multiple group design projects culminating in a final fourth year design project which involved the design of an industrial-scale process for the recovery of high purity hydrogen from synthesis gas. Through a yearlong fourth year thesis researching the efficacy of insulin encapsulating nanoparticles for oral drug delivery of insulin, she developed insight into research processes. This thesis demonstrated her ability to work independently to produce accurate results and a high quality final product. Kate's Master's degree not only solidified these skills but also enabled her to gain new perspectives and see biomedicine from not only a technical perspective but also social and economic ones as well.
Her involvement in the engineering society as head purchasing manager and in the Canadian Undergraduate Conference on Health care gave her experience working with a budget, developing new ideas and interacting with senior figures at the University. She has also gained experience in the business community through an intern position responsible for helping develop the company's strategic plan. Kate is currently volunteering at MaRS in the Innovation and Partnership Office.
During the past 5 years of her education Kate has become increasingly interested in the extraordinary possibilities that are brought forth by biotechnology. She is extremely passionate about combining her diverse educational background to contribute to this industry and is looking for employment for September 2013.

Iain MacKenzie
Queen's University
With a strong commitment both to the environment and his community Iain has been involved with initiatives such as "Family Fishing days" and "Check Your Watershed" programs over the past three years. Iain will be joining the Master of Management of Innovation program in the fall to pursue long-term goals of leadership in the conservation and environmental management fields. When he is not outside enjoying the natural beauty of the Ontario backcountry, he spends his time focused on analyzing social media and mobile marketing trends. As a science student with the heart of an entrepreneur, Iain brings scientific rigour, hard work, and a great attention to detail to all of his projects.

Akshay Rajaram
McGill University
With a keen interest in clinical research, Akshay comes with substantial research experience after working at the Child Health and Exercise Medicine Program at McMaster University. He has co-authored two manuscripts awaiting publication and has helped a number of graduate students with their individual projects.
Akshay has been practicing Shotokan karate for the past fourteen years. In the summer of 2009, he was awarded his first degree black belt. Today, he continues to devote himself to the study of karate and volunteers regularly as an assistant instructor.
Akshay hopes to integrate his love for science, his clinical research knowledge, and the skills gained in the MMI program towards commercializing therapeutic strategies to meet existing and future challenges in medicine.

Kevin Schwab
Queen's University
Parallel to his studies, Kevin has always been actively involved in and outside of the classroom. After participating on his high school's student council for several years, Kevin was elected Vice President of Academics of the Queen's Mechanical Engineering Department. This role encompassed acting as the designated liaison and communication link between faculty and students for all academic issues.
Due to an international upbringing with a strong emphasis on community, Kevin has become a cultured, bilingual individual with growing leadership and interpersonal skills. Living in Munich, Germany for most of his childhood, Kevin's passion for soccer awakened at a young age making him a devoted fan to FC Bayern München since the start of the century. His love for guitar and performing live music have helped further round out his personality.
Having completed engineering internships in aircraft engine development, helicopter maintenance, and thermal systems design, Kevin plans to combine past experiences with a sound academic background in order to jumpstart his career in the global aerospace industry. The MMI program will be instrumental in enhancing Kevin's technical background through a focus on business and innovation perspectives.

Kimberley Stern
Wilfried Laurier University
Although having never taken any specialized business courses, she jumped at the opportunity to become an intern at one of the largest market research companies in the world, Ipsos-Reid. There she was able to hone her skills of analyzing human behaviour while simultaneously devising marketable and actionable business plans for companies large and small. This experience became the stepping-stone to her career aspirations as she planned on fusing her zeal for research with her passion for environmental sustainability. She then became Marketing Analyst at Envirobond Products Corporation, an agri-tech company affiliated with Agricultural Canada. Here she has gained invaluable knowledge in project management, research and development of new technology, and social media outreach.
Kimberley is a firm supporter of preparing today's business leaders for the problems of tomorrow's technology driven society. It is with this intellectual integrity that she hopes to gain insight from the MMI program for a future career in innovation research and management.

Andrew Quercia
The University of Western Ontario
Andrew recently accepted a position as a Compliance Associate Intern for TD Bank Group working in the department of Global Anti-Money Laundering and Global Anti-Terrorist Financing (GAML/GATF) in Corporate Office. Andrew has been employed part-time with TD Bank Group since 2008, where he maintained his work schedule while pursuing his Honours BHSc degree and extra-curricular activities.
In his spare time, Andrew is working towards a Commercial Pilot's License (CPL) which he has been pursuing since 2010. He has a strong passion for flight, and enjoys sharing his passion with potential passengers - if they are willing! A strong passion for organization, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork have led Andrew to pursue the Master of Management of Innovation program, where he is excited to bring together his business acumen and science background in search of business opportunities. Mathilda Wolfram
Queen's University
Her desire to work collaboratively with others led to the comprehensive planning and creation of an inaugural science camp for youth at Queen's University; where Tilly played an integral leadership role in all parts of its implementation and delivery. At the helm of curriculum design, presiding over finances, and instructing and interacting with children, Tilly was able to hone her executive and project management skills. An article she authored relating to her experiences educating future generations about scientific concepts is awaiting publication in an upcoming education journal. Additionally, she has worked for the Ontario Government in the payroll division for multiple years. Her ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide assistance to co-workers proved to be extremely beneficial throughout the transition to an updated work interface and pay system.
In her final year, Tilly balanced the completion of two independent research mentorship positions with working at a student-run coffee shop on campus. Furthermore, she actively assumed a role as an intramural referee and waterpolo competitor, model parliament participant, and trained for various running events.
As a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual that enjoys working with people, Tilly is looking forward to combining her science background with the skills she gains from the MMI program to pursue a career in the healthcare or pharmaceutical fields.

Joanne Wong
University of Western Ontario
She was also involved in many extra-curricular activities outside of her studies like intramural volleyball, Western Tutor Club, Western Badminton Club and volunteering at research labs. All of these activities allowed Joanne to continue to develop her communication skills and leadership abilities. The hard work put into school and extra-curricular paid off and landed her on the Dean's Honor List, as well as winning Intramural Championships!
The optimism, problem solving skills and dedication Joanne possesses, carry her forward towards her goals; despite any of the obstacles along the way. She hopes to apply herself in the medical sector and contribute back to society after obtaining her MMI degree.

Joshua Zhao
University of Ottawa
Having always held an interest in improving the quality of life of the elderly, Joshua has volunteered at various retirement homes during his time in high school and university. Among other tasks, Joshua was responsible for organizing and carrying out social and recreational activities for the residents of the homes. These experiences allowed him to develop an appreciation of the value of close personalized client interactions.
Joshua is excited about the opportunity to integrate his background in the biosciences with the business knowledge and skills taught by the MMI program, and hopes that it will lead to a leadership role in the biotechnology or health care industry.

Qian Zheng
University of Toronto
Qian has a wide range of interests outside of her academic career, she is an amateur Taichi instructor and she has a passion for travel and photography. Her strong communication skills and enthusiasm has allowed her to successfully tutored younger students with math and statistics since high school. Through her actuarial internship, she was exposed to various insurance industry related projects, this allowed her to further apply the knowledge she learned onto real world scenarios.
With her strong background in mathematical applications of insurance and financial sectors, Qian looks to apply her knowledge onto other financial and non-financial sectors, to bring innovative ideas and risk management expertise at the same time. She believes the MMI program is a great way for her to achieve her goals and be able to provide positive contribution to wherever she will end up in the future.

Alexandre Combessie
Ecole des Ponts ParisTech
In addition to his academic performance, Alexandre developed his professional skills thanks to many extracurricular activities and internships. At Ecole des Ponts, he has been the president of the art association, while representing students at the Board of Directors of the school. Professionally speaking, he has developed strong skills in consulting, finance and entrepeneurship, through a consulting mission for an Internet start-up, MyMajorCompany, and two six-month internships, first at Natixis as a Credit Analyst for the media industry, then at Ernst & Young in the Valuation and Business Modeling service.
As a motivated and proactive individual, with a strong aptitude for problem solving, leadership and teamwork, Alexandre aspires to combine his love of science and innovation and his experience in the financial field with his studies in the MMI program to pursue a career in the tech field, in a start-up. David Yoon
Queen's University
Outside of school, Woo Sik has worked as the VP Residence Affairs of Queen's University's Main Campus Residents' Council, and as a Residence Don. As a VPRA, his role encompassed preparing training materials for his staff, providing human resources management of over 50 employees, attending inter-department meetings, and organizing the hiring process for the organization. This experience allowed Woo Sik to understand the importance of strong communication, leadership and teamwork in the functionality of an organization, and strived towards honing these skills. As a Residence Don, his role encompassed enforcing residence rules, mentoring of residents, planning programs for the residents, and ensuring a smooth transition into a new school environment for many.
With a strong interest in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical technology, Woo Sik is excited to explore the business and innovation aspects of the field with the MMI program. Gia Duong
Rutgers University
Gia held many executive positions within many different student organizations inside and outside of Rutgers University. He served as the president of the Vietnamese Student Association and the chair of the Northeast Union of Vietnamese Student Association 2011 Conference. During his term, the organization won several local and national outstanding leadership awards in recognitions for its excellent performance. Gia also served as the public relation chair and the media director for the Rutgers American Medical Student Association. He is currently the public relation for Viet Nam Medical Assistance Program (VNMAP). In addition to student organization involvements, Gia also developed a strong sense of community through dedicating his time to serve as an emergency medical technician (EMT) at the local rescue squad and a medical interpreter when he traveled to Vietnam on a medical relief trip with VNMAP.

Johnson Yu

In addition to his interests and aspirations in engineering and technology, Xuduo showed strong entrepreneur passion. As a coordinator summer intern at a fastener trading company, he has gained valuable experience in client management and international trading. After graduation, he obtained some opportunities to give initial marketing and technical analysis on several material science related projects, such as, alternatives to ITO transparent conductive film (mostly used in touch screens), carbon fiber bicycles and cellulose pulp trading respectively for oversea manufacturers.
Recently, he has started a venture business focused on low-cost carbon fiber manufacturing. He believes the MMI program will give him the foundation he needs to pursue his entrepreneurial dream.

Originally from BC, Dr. Blackwood also enjoys winter sports, track and field, and tennis and in her off time enjoys coaching track and traveling.

Due his leadership qualities, he was selected as literary secretary of Pharmaceutical society, IT-BHU; where he was given responsibility to manage and organize various conferences, seminars and national level competitions. Apart from his research interest, he has also volunteered his services for social group of his college to organize medical camps for underprivileged living in nearby slum area. Other than their focus on health, hygiene and education, their team also promoted self employment (specially for young girls) by offering vocational training programme.
With his diverse industrial exposure in Astra-Zeneca, recent research work in pharmacology and spirit of social entrepreneurship, he plans to continue his prolific work to mitigate effects of adverse drug reactions and to provide patient centric services.

She is also interested in understanding the business process: marketing, finance, economics, operation research etc. in order to apply her IT specialties.
Her strong academic and work background combined with her knowledge of business and IT management makes her an ideal candidate for Management Innovation and IT Strategy manager.
